comment Cannot SSH from Production Server to Backup Server until Restart SSH on Backup Server
Point 2. (i.e. not a script issue) contradicts every symptom. Can you provide an anonymized sample of the script and/or verify that that you don't see the same behavior from another CentOS command line (not WinSCP or PuTTY)

@i-CONICA I should have been clearer, do you have a traffic capture of the network conversation?

Can you verify that the client is issuing an HTTP =>1.1 request? HTTP 1.0 cannot handle virtual hosts.

comment best way to create perfect mirror of zfs based backup server
@nudzo if one of the rep snaps fails, the others won't proceed, and if you're looking for a "mirrored fs" (which the OP asked about and is not solvable within ZFS anyway) rsync comes much closer to success over WAN.

ZFS replication does not fail gracefully (i.e. if one fails the whole pipeline gets jammed). I've had much better results with rsync and local snapshots. I'll use ZFS replication over a LAN, but nothing slower.

comment Postfix rejects an outgoing email with multiple destinations due to one invalid address
Don't BCC, use individual mails. Inefficient, maybe, but that's how it works.

comment TCP Dump, cannot understand these 4 lines?
@XavierLucas fair enough, I should not say wrong but "isn't necessarily right". Thus "I believe" as in "seems like". Agreed.

comment How do I specify subjectAltName in the openssl cli?
I believe that is correct. X509v3 Subject Alternative Name: DNS:kb.example.com, DNS:helpdesk.example.com

comment TCP Dump, cannot understand these 4 lines?
@XavierLucas of course anything intermediate can modify the conversation but the 4 lines posted look like a pathological client (client being anything not the server). I believe that it is wrong to interpret that as a server preventing a slow-read.

comment TCP Dump, cannot understand these 4 lines?
@XavierLucas it's not relevant where the capture happened, one is behaving as a client (initiating) and the other is not.

comment How do I configure pfsense as an outbound VPN client?
I agree that openvpn is probably the simplest (IPSec + L2TP are still broken under pfSense 2.1, IPSec by itself works well) - note that you can specify what port your openvpn client/server use (try tcp 1723 or udp 500/5500 tcp 1701 -- those are pptp and IPSec/L2TP).

The server only sends one packet, and it's a normal conversation. It's the client that's behaving strangely.

Actually, I would go past insane or impossible and call it stupid. Nothing humans know is 100%.

comment How can I find the total number of TCP connections for a given port and period of time by IP?
They all run on linux and are available as packages in most distros. Since the question doesn't specify how long the period is or how many connections there are I found iptables + you parse it yourself to be unsatisfactory reimplementation of the wheel. You are more than welcome to disagree and downvote me.

All of those tools will answer the question of connections over a period of time. I should have made that more explicit than "have a look at"
