comment Creating a docker container from a capistrano deploy
@sciurus My application exists in two states - checked out from git for "development", or "deployed" via capistrano. I'm not sure how the "deployed" version differs from the "development" version. I want to take the "deployed" version and dockerify it. Then to "deploy" to other machines I could pass the docker image around.

Thanks @hdave. I feel like with this approach I'm losing out on one of the primary benefits of VMs, containment. To restore, I'd have to reinstall everything manually and configure. Not really the approach I want to take. However, thanks anyway, it's a valid technique.

comment QoS on DD-WRT Questions
Thank you for your link. This is a fascinating problem. This blog has a good introduction specifically related to dd-wrt and the site that you linked has a good intro as well.

I'm not sure I agree. I see what you mean about priority though. What happens when two different connections to the same service are made? That's what my scenario is about. Two connections prioritized equally should share bandwidth equally.. but that doesn't seem to happen.

Ah fair enough, perl it is. I'll try grawity's Bash =~ suggestion first though.

I think the first ECHO, where I pipe it into grep is the culprit. I had issues with =~, I should try it again!

Seems like too much work to break out a C compiler for this..

Interesting, thanks. I dont have LVM on top of my filesystem, for simplicity. I'd prefer to copy the whole image because that would allow me to have a stand-by failover ready to go in case the machine fails at any point.
