comment New server unreachable for a time after swapping IP address
"Some sort of data" being an ARP announcement about it's MAC address.

comment Removing The Server
Well, have fun then. Once the thing blows you are very likely to miss the server. Unless you have a 1 gigabit line - that is 1 gigabit up and down - you WILL have performance problems.

comment Hyper-V broken after uninstalling VMWare Player
Server 2012 r2, vmware end user software and hyper-v native hypervisor - I would nuke the install (reinstall) and not bother with fixing.

comment Mess of a system : Where to start?
Yeah. FIrst thing likely is backup. WIthout it you can not change anything anyway and run risk of catastrophic failure.

comment Mess of a system : Where to start?
Leave the job to someone who does not ahve to ask this. Seriously - this is a HUGH field and way too large to answer here. This is the case for a very senior person who may take a year or two to migrate all this to a sane setup.

comment Gentle reboot of batch server (Task Schedular)
The answer is likely "we do not". Task scheduler is not a scheduler app for complex scenarios - so you basically use it outside the intended use case. Some enterprise scheduling app may be better here.

comment Fast Ethernet UDP optimize receive buffers
You are aware that you work under the wrong assumption that 100mbit is a lot of data for a computer to handle? I would be surprised if any optimization would be seful for some that low data throughput. THis is 2015 - most networks today are a lot faster and no tuning is needed.

comment Should I still have a physical DC, even post-Server 2012?
Nice and dandy, but again totally irrelevant UNLESS you have a significant part of your infrastructure out of Hyper-V then. DC's working but file shares, sharepoint, exchange, printing and all other things down - means I rather do not care about the DC being up again ;) It mostly runs down to "have multiple DC and make backups" and that is the case in both sides (Hyper-V and physical).

comment Should I still have a physical DC, even post-Server 2012?
Not sure that makes sense, though - see, for example, I know a company being 100% virtual with the DC and they make regular backups and have 3 dc on 2 continents (2 in europe, 1 in usa).... hard to imagine anything here that blows in a way that makes things not recoverable.

comment Dell 12G R720 Hyper-V host virtual/physical NIC stops working
Thorough Explanation likely is "crap drivers". Sadly - i is something that repeatedly happens with Broadcom. Never had an issue with Intel.

comment MSSQL 2008 r2 Express: there is insufficient system memory in resource pool 'internal' to run this query
Then I would consider moving to a newer version. Regardless how you turn it, 2008 R2 is ancient.

comment MSSQL 2008 r2 Express: there is insufficient system memory in resource pool 'internal' to run this query
Due to the possiblity ofa bug (as per answer) - can you provide the exact build number? (of your SQL Server version). Is it possible to - update to a newer SQL Server express, they are free anyway.

comment Poor iSCSI performance with SSD disks and 10 Gbe network
Not anywhere near enough information and our crystal balls are too expensive to waste them on non paying customers. If you want help, then provide meaningful information that can be used to help you nail things down.

comment Migrate MSSQL 2008R2 to 2012 (new hardware)
Then you misformulated. I was thinking about recommendation in terms of the upgrade approach (backup/restore). Using the new features is recommended - after making sure they are beneficial. Most programs will start not using them.

comment Max SAS throughput of a disk stack?
If each controller uses one of the cables -then yes. But controllers often have multiple links going out and each cabinet can then have it's own separate limit. I for exampel use Adaptec controllers with 2-4 cables going out of each. So the limit may be per shelve ;)

comment Time issue in Windows domain Hyper-V
Upgrade to 2012 R2 - both clients and host. 2012 R2 fixed that issue for good and now the setup is clear: enable time service on bot, virtual DC as well as the host, they work nicely together now.

comment Windows Server 20120 R2 Std on Intel i7 system
Then fire them - obviously incompetent. Desktop systems DO have certain issues (uptime, long term stability) but support for a modern OS is not one of them. THere are a TON of reasons to do that - for example as development system. For some programming you must work on a server OS (or at least it is best).

comment Dedicated server stalls at 80 req/s - is MaxRequestWorkers the cause?
What does the disc IO chart show? If that is latency in milliseconds (the ONLY measurement making any sense) then yes, you do get overloaded - at lease a little. I would increase the number of workers then.

Well, reassign the RID master. Not so hard - google can tell you how. I vote to close here.
