comment xenserver: installation via kickstart file after adding storage
well it would somehow have the same effect. none the less i would like to figure out why this happens and how i can get into "installation from kickstart mode"

comment iptables only allow smtp connections with start tls
thanks! i should have mentioned, that i do not control the mta. the basic idea is to prevent users mail clients to send unencrypted mail wireless lan to their mailservers. edit: an option would be to just redirect all traffic on port 25 to a controlled mta which allows only tls

comment mdadm raid5 failure. set wrong drive to faulty by accident
sure. but it would be much less work to bring up the raid if possible than recover from the backup. i just don't like the general assumption that someone who has data problems has no backup and therefore can be laughed at. the backup discussion is absolutely irrelevant to the technical problem.

comment mdadm raid5 failure. set wrong drive to faulty by accident
no i did not use all, i added missing instead of sdd1 since that one should be the one which was degraded. the backup joke is old and not relevant to my question. there should be no corrupt data thus the array should be recoverable somehow.
