comment Forward UNIX syslog to Windows Event viewer
As @alharaka says, I'd like to have one place to review the current status of my systems, rather than going through half a dozen different web interfaces. Since I can use the event viewer to collect data from client windows computers, server RAID arrays etc, I thought it'd be a piece of cake to add the firewall also

comment Exchange 2010 backup fails with VSS_FAILED_AT_PREPARE_SNAPSHOT
Thank you! The server had been rebooted, and vssadmin lists didn't report anything out of the ordinary. Running the builtin backup worked however, and after that the agent worked as well.

Thank you! For the record, the contents of the subtree was a share that the server used to have.

comment Removing old DC from AD, remove “subtree”?
Hi! What I meant was that I assigned it to a workgroup instead of the domain. I did use DCPromo to demote it.

comment What are “benign errors”?
In my specific case this is not applicable, but in general this seems to be a good advice. Thanks!

And then you just ignore them? Do you somehow mask them? I get warning mails every week about having critical errors logged, which I want to, but those that are currently arise are "benign critial errors"

comment Exchange migration: ExchangeTransport warnings after uninstalling source server
Hi! Unfourtunatly, no, not until now. That article seems to detail how the uninstallation should have been performed. I did the uninstallation as per the instructions in the article I linked to in the question, which either is missing a step, or I failed to follow correctly. The source server is uninstalled and decommissioned, so I can't really "try again".

comment Server System drive on a USB stick? Good? Bad?
Might want to log to a different drive / remote syslog as well.
