comment SharePoint Office Servers *.ci files huge
I followed the instructions to move the index files to a different drive: resetting the crawled content, removing the crawl, deleting the schedule, modifying the index file location, rescheduled the crawl, and recrawled all content. The files on the original drive were removed successfully and I saved over 1.5gigs! Thanks so much!

comment domain, subdomain and file
htaccess is specifically for login credentials or permission based access, not for subdomains or virtual directories. You will have to make another virtual directory tag in your httpd.conf file.

Honestly, I'd say go for it. I don't see any outstanding issues with AD LDS. It's still not even a year old technology. I'm assuming they had integration with SP2010 in mind when deploying it.

Have you thought about using alerts for all of the modified items of a document library? If a status gets updated, all users can potentially get alerts.

comment SPS 2007 backup webparts etc
Furthermore, when you backup and restore a site, all the features webparts and solutions need to be reinstalled. I would export your webparts (saves the configuration) of all your webparts that are not duplicates, and import them after you restore the site and reinstall the webpart solutions.

comment Sharepoint discussion board w/ attachments expiration policy
I found that support.microsoft.com/kb/975002/en-us was not installed on my server and one of the hotfixes is that the attachments will delete correctly after its associated list has been deleted. Thanks!

comment Sharepoint discussion board w/ attachments expiration policy
I don't get it. I used this workflow correctly, and the discussion deleted properly, but the attachment is still there. Alot of the attachments that are redundant are still in the attachments folder shown on SPDesigner. Is there a tool to clean these up? Why are the attachments still there? I deleted them from both recycle bins...

if I create this workflow with SPDesigner, will the "Delete List Item" find and delete the attachment that is linked to the list item?

comment Moving distribution lists in Public Folders to Sharepoint Contacts?
well even though that is really neat, and useful in the future I'm looking to migrate the distribution lists I already have into Sharepoint. Is that not possible?

comment SharePoint 2007 licensing question
make a site that enables Enterprise features and only allow 10 people into the site, and the rest of the sites diable Ent. features and all 50 people can access. You can disable the Enterprise feature through the site collection settings.

comment WSS_Content contains?
I found the problem. The "WSS" in "WSS_Content" through me off, it was located on another web application on another server. Will deleting sites/document libraries and files downsize this database, or will that do minimal damage?
