comment How to get a service to listen on port 80 on Windows Server 2003
for Win2008r2, use the netsh utility to add your server to the http.sys system, as long as you have different urls, it can serve both servers on port 80. I think you want this: add urlacl url=http://+:80/MyUri user=DOMAIN\user

comment Backup Strategy for Small Group of Windows XP computers
that's 'cos its Windows. Get a single Linux box and put Bacula on it, or just run Acronis on each client and have it save to the linux server. Or run BackupPC or rsync, or run... there's lots of these solutions.

comment Load balance web services
no, I'm asking can I take down a running service on a host. Not taking down the entire host. Not all systems run a single web server with all services running inside it, imagine I have 10 services all running on different ports as an example (more likely, with name-based web services all running on port 80, each one an individual exe). I want to LB each service individually.

comment ntop: Which HTTP downloads (URLs) caused the traffic?
they say so in the question. If you have multiple apps processing http requests you should be able to narrow down which one by looking at which port or ip address is taking the traffic.
