How often does a browser need to perform a DNS lookup for then same site? thanks Farseeker - however are you implying that the browser (e.g. firefox say) will do this caching itself? So if I have a site in firefox and keep hitting refresh, is firefox actually issuing a DNS call each time, which may be then picked up at the windows level by the local Windows DNS cache which then does the cache check? |

verifying whether IP address is associated with an overall DNS name (which has multiple IP's listed) unfortunately doesn't seem to work on our DNS server - just hands back one |

verifying whether IP address is associated with an overall DNS name (which has multiple IP's listed) @coredump - this would be great if it worked and worked consistently. When I run the same dig command against google, interestingly enough, I only get one result which is curious. Do you know how robust this approach would be? Would it work with all DNS servers for example (i.e. would DNS servers typically respect providing back the full list of IPs?). |

verifying whether IP address is associated with an overall DNS name (which has multiple IP's listed) thanks - no other ideas then re how to distinguish internet bound (i.e. via proxy) traffic packets from internal traffic (note in a large internal network with multiple sub-domains)? |

HTTPS Proxy - Is it possible to proxy a HTTPS request without having certificates setup? so the proxy I have in mind is one where I would have to manually point my applications to it (e.g. for browser set the host/port for my home grown proxy) - so this is not a transparent proxy correct? |
