3com VCX - how to get a dump of outgoing phone calls I do not have the app |

3com SuperStack 3, is it possible to replace a unit with a newer 'hp' equivalent unit? Makes sense. I decided to not replace the unit, and instead remove the bad on, reducing the stack down to 4 units, which is still fine in my mind. I will replace it with a modern normal (non-stackable), but managed layer 3 poe switch, uplinked to the stack. This is the way we have been going in other closets anyway. |

If you turn on spanning tree, how do you know there is an issue with your network? I guess this is the obvious answer. I suppose I could use Splunk and feed it logs, and something like whats up to monitor the snmp traps and alert... |

If you turn on spanning tree, how do you know there is an issue with your network? The only problem is, that's not the answer to the question I asked. In my case, the network is WORKING. If spanning tree was OFF, and I had a network loop, it would stop working. With spanning tree ON, it theoretically would keep the network working, so how would I know that there is a problem loop for example, since the equipment would mask the issue? (the answer above about snmp/logs so far makes sense) |

Cisco Pix how to add an additional block of static ip addresses for nat? Maybe you could share at least the basic relevant entries for the second range? |

vmware esxi 5, cant create snapshots and consolidate fails, how to delete old or consolidate redo logs? Now when I try to consolidate snapshots, instead of failing right away with the 255 or more error, it runs for a while, then an error message shows failed because it could not allocate memory. Yet there is about 60% free (out of 16 gigs). |

vmware esxi 5, cant create snapshots and consolidate fails, how to delete old or consolidate redo logs? So I tried and it ran for a long time (hours). Near the end, it finally came up with an error "error caused by file [datastore1] myvm/myvm-000255.vmdk. So it failed cloning. |

backuppc - how to backup remote (over the internet) clients? Sorry, you are correct, I was answering the wrong question. I did however end up using crash plan, instead of backuppc for remote laptop type machines. |

Can active directory GPO's apply to a group object? Ok, that should work, what is the terminology I am looking for to read up on this, group filtering or ? |

VMWare ESXi 5 unable to create snapshot - maximum file size update: my backups were failing again, so I tried my 'consolidate' trick, and it's not working to fix it this time! Same error as described above. So I am still stuck, I am not sure why I am unable to create a snapshot of these 2 machines. 2 others on the same box are fine! |

VMWare ESXi 5 unable to create snapshot - maximum file size Its just under 3k (the vmx file) -- the vmdk is just over 8 gigs. |

wireshark windows - how to remote capture/analyze from a tshark or similar install? I guess that works for most of my use cases, but I am also hoping for a real-time capability. I wonder if for example I could use putty to create an ssh tunnel, or some other option? |

Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) to prevent network loop back issues? So it looks like it is enabled on my ports (see above where it shows "port protocol : enabled", but looks disabled in the device MSTP config. Even though it looks like it's on for the ports, does that mean it's NOT because it's disabled at the device level? |

How to record SIP traffic / calls for future auditing? I am really liking the oreka solution so far! It seems to work great, except that SOME of our phones are generating g729 traffic, some g711. The g711 work great and I see wav files, the g729 do not decode and stay as mcf files. I believe this means I need to either get the pay for version with the proper codec, or convert my phones to all stay on g711, which I am not sure if is possible or if there is a negative to doing that...? |

How to record SIP traffic / calls for future auditing? Good Point. In our case, no PCI issues. However, we are legally liable for what is said on the phone and what actions are taken (or not), so recording is a necessity. |

How to record SIP traffic / calls for future auditing? Sorry if I was not clear, and my terminology is not correct. I was able to capture the network traffic flowing to/from the phones with WireShark, and was able to play back the audio in wireshark. I am asking if that's the best tool, or if there is a better approach. |

How to record SIP traffic / calls for future auditing? Yes, but it's all or none. We have hundreds of phones, but only want to record a small handful. |

3com 3101 or 3102 VOIP phones will not get DHCP/connect to network unless in specific location? The VLAN concept makes sense - that possibly the stack in the other building is tagging the packets and allowing it to get DHCP, the the firmware updates are adding the VLAN in to the phone -- assuming it has that capability -- how can I check in the phone if it has a VLAN setting/what it is? |

What does the windows XP end of life mean for a business and it's domain? But you have to upgrade because there will be security holes that will no longer be patched, correct? Yes, you can receive crazy discounts, but it's a limited number of licenses - a much smaller number than we would need. |
