comment hosts file ignored, how to troubleshoot?
OMG!!! THANKS A TON!!! Been looking for a solution for 3 days now. I added example.com in my hosts file, but it didn't work. When I added www.example.com, it worked instantly! This point may have been the last of the basics but it's the top one in my view. Can't thank you enough for posting this answer. Appreciate it!!!

@John I am really worried now. Site not found! No static IP! Payment made to web host!!! OMMMGGGG!!!! So what would be the flawless way of making this work (including automatically updating the DNS settings)? I am trying to go through the other website and since I am relatively new, it's taking me time to get familiar with the terminology and absorb it. Meanwhile any guidance from you all will help me a bunch. Thanks again.

Thank you for the reply. I bought the domain from another registrar and I will be merely updating nameservers and not transfer my domain to the new host. So when you mention ServerName, do you mean it is nameservers or something else? If it is the nameservers, then do I write the nameserver of the current domain registrar or the hosting company?

@John Thank you for the reply. I bought the domain from another registrar and I will be merely updating nameservers and not transfer my domain to the new host. So what will happen in this case?

@Farseeker Thank you for the reply. Yes, I will be hosting my services definitely behind a domain name. I am a bit relieved when you mentioned that its would not be a problem. But then again, when you mentioned that I will have to set my "DNS" to "follow" me, my concerns grew. How can I set it to follow me, when I do not know what it is going to be? I will look for the info on the other pages you mentioned meanwhile.

@Jeremy How is the customer support like? I happened to send an email to them with my questions and it's about 2 days and I did not receive a reply. With other hosts, I typically received the replies with 12-24 hours. Any suggestions? And they don't seem to have Managed servers. Or do they?

You are almost right with your conclusions. Funds are an issue as I am using that out of my savings, that I have been saving up for a rainy day. In fact, I sacrificed many things (includes social life) to work on this project. Yes, apart from the 50,000 file limit, the host does a pretty good job at everything else. Also I just wanted to get a hold on using backup and restoration tools so that it will add to my experience. So in a way, I thought that this host is good and not totally bad. Thank you for all your helpful comments.

In the above it should have read 1 + 3/4th. i.e I pay the current price and 3/4th more. Well in fact, I calculated it and it's no less than a direct double! And no support!!
