comment N2N VPN + Client VPN - recommended technology and network architecture?
Disagree. SSL-VPN is application layer solution. IMO the closer to the wire, the better I would say IPSec

It would be nice if that was documented. Like, really nice.

comment Deep Packet Inspection - Does it work on video content too?
Of course, your concern is not deep packet inspection, but more DHCP/ARP poisoning/DNS poisoning issues. Watch for the fake freedom site!

@danlefree is right. Might not be personal, but that pipe should be thought of as hostile.

comment What is an “application firewall”?
Yes, I read both wikipedia and the other entry. It seems plausible, but I was hoping for "This is how a socket firewall works." I know that it lets far too much stuff in silently on osx, only blocks TCP and UDP, stealth is implemented with an ipfw rule. AFP flies right through. More questions coming ;)

comment Is there a location of the sysctl kernel parameters for osX?
sigh I was getting that impression. Time to bust out ctags. The thing is that the application firewall is undocumented for some reason... and the man page does not tell you where it's defined!

Certainly. At least it tab completes on the myriad switches... I'll clean it up and upload this am.

comment Looking for zsh completion file for osX native commands
It's not that much nicer. Got the basics for networksetup. Odd, I would ordinarily hate zsh by now, but the very little I dug out of that byzantine manpage makes zsh so much sweeter... How I wish I could walk away from this sort of thing....

promising, I edited my question, I see you ran that using either macports or linux, I have a -P option in the crappy BSD style option list... trying that.

Yes. This is true, but you have to be in man to do it. I want to get from the shell to that in one step.

comment Routing all traffic thru socks proxy using ssh -D
With MacOS in particular, trusting the global proxy settings needs to be verified.
