Can you connect to RDP using FQDN? If so, sounds like your Win7 machine hasn't picked up a DNS suffic from your DHCP server. Is your dhcp server handing them out? Check using ipconfig, you should see it listed under there.

Do you have logon rights to the machine? Why not just drop a hosts file entry pointing the host name to the internal IP? Might be easier than trying to get your provider to change their NAT setup?
