comment flush tables in the Locked state
Sorry, I was mistaken. You don't run it from cron. You can run it as a daemon by passing the --daemonize option, and you can have it log to a log file with the --log <logfile> option. You can test this by setting a short busy-time such as pt-kill --busy-time 5 --kill then logging into your database and issuing a sleep query like select sleep(30);.

comment Install gitolite without needing public key(s)?
There are docs here sitaramc.github.com/gitolite/http.html for using Gitolite with HTTP. I haven't ever set this up, I have always just used ssh. Generating public keys on windows workstations is pretty straight forward using puttygen, then using pageant for authentication. I've done this many times for SVN access for developers on windows workstations.

comment How do you setup a DNS server in order to be able to add records on-the-fly?
To echo @Zoredache, are you adding new zones? I think you might be mixing terms. A zone is just a subset of a single domain. Looks like you want to add subdomains. You might want to edit your question if this is the case.

comment Rename all the files
For filenames with spaces, simply prepend IFS=$'\t\n'; to the start of the command. This will remove the space as a "Internal Field Separator". Do a search on linux ifs for more tricks with this variable.

comment rsync : transferring files in one direction only
And remember, when in doubt the --dry-run option will show you a list of the files that would have been transferred but not actually perform the transfer. I add this to the start of every rsync just as a precaution, even if I am sure the command is correct.
