comment IIS sets http header Expires to -1, how do I override this with mod_expires
True, but I want to override, unsetting and then setting didn't seem to work for me then, though I don't remember exactly, thanks anyway.

A comment made me realize the title and tags didn't match the actual question

The question was about how to configure apache to override these -1 (the title and tags were badly chosen). The problem we had were cookies being set, so that made IIS set Expires header. We fixed that using javascript cookie istead of server side cookie. That solved it... Still no answer to how to convince mod_expires to override -1

comment https lingering TIME_WAIT connections
Will this keep a socket open on the server? Or is it just a matter of resources on my local machine?

I'm stupid, didn't look at the top of the file, there's a header there!

And, I'm describing a behaviour I'm seeing with our server, with different websites it doesn't behave this way...

I know it is, read like 0.1% of them (which is a lot!), but I'm trying to understand the difference between Firefox's tcp stack and Windows (which is shared by IE and Chrome).

This has to do with HTTPS, there are connections being made by the windows tcp stack which linger in TIME_WAIT (netstat). Firefox doesn't issue these requests. If it'd be easy to include a tcp-dump, I would but since it's SSL, you can't really tell...

comment Override Expires header for proxied content in Apache
He's using Apache httpd as a reverse proxy! Not a transparent proxy, ProxyRequests is probably set to Off. That means, the apache server itself is a webserver and dynamic content happens to come from a "Proxied" ajp connection.
