comment init.d script worked OK on Ubuntu 10.10 but not on 11.10 despite LBS header correction
Info added as reqested - I did try your script, but if put out pages and pages of stuff with + next to some of it. As I resolved it by your other suggestion, I pasted that instead. Thanks! Although I'm still baffled as to why that previous version worked perfectly on 10.10 and not 11.10...

comment apache2 and php slow first load on Ubuntu VPS - something like mysqltuner but for apache?
@alvosu Well, I HAVE rebooted the vps, but usually after any tweaking of either apache or mysql, I do service apache2 restart or service mysql restart, whichever I've just been fiddling with. But it's not the apache2 itself. If I serve a static html page, it's always blazing fast from the first hit. It's anything involving php.

comment sh script to remove just txt files using find and exec rm warns me of missing argument to exec
Perfect! I simply used "fromdos <file>" and everything is working perfectly. I don't know why the fact I'd also tried xargs got edited out of my original post, you've solved it with a simple solution. Many thanks again.

comment I need a few minutes of dedicated server a week, but not for hosting, just to convert ogg etc
Wow - that was easy. Sort of. I've got a bit of a learning curve, but with an hour's time, I'd signed up, got a small-instance going, found a site with info getting the gcc compiler, and nearly had it. Was getting compile errors like below, but I guess a read of the manual might help. It looks like there are "community build" AMIs too. Best I get on the Amazon forums for an ask! Anyway, this looks good.
