comment What are some steps to trouble shoot denied HTTPS requests in IIS 7?
When I view the Certification Path for the certificate IIS is using it goes GeoTrust Global CA > RapidSSL CA > Our Certificate. All 3 are installed under Computer Account and ours is under Personal, RapidSSL is under Intermediate Certification Authorities, and GeoTrust is under Trusted Root Certification Authorities.

comment Convert my Vista installation into a virtual machine
I just used option #3 to get a Windows Server 2008 x86 install running inside of Windows 7 x64 with no problems. It should be noted though that in order to overwrite ntoskrnl.exe & hal.dll you need to take ownership of them first.

comment How to change the drive letter once windows is installed?
It was 4 80GB drives in raid5 which was partitioned into 12GB and 209GB. I don't know why it was bought like this or left like this but now the OS is on its own drive.

comment Losing 1/3 of my download speed with my new router, any ideas on how to fix?
The funny thing about this firewall is there's nothing about it on the Linksys site. All the paperwork says to go to linksys.com etc. but info and firmware is posted on cisco.com under the small business group of items. Same goes for my WAP4410N which is a dual branded box from these guys.

The 30 megabits was from the speed test at speakeasy and the one from cablevision. I also get 3-3.5MB/s from Microsoft and Amazon S3 so I know the speeds are legit.

Nice my speed is back...good thing this has gig wan, that should come in handy. I've been thinking of getting the new 101Mb/s service from Cablevision, guess I need to get a new new firewall first.

I was shocked myself to see the entire drive filled. I think it was also because it was setup as our print server which kept eating up space. Next thing will be to find out how to change where that gets saved to.

comment Should I get rackmounted or tower servers for in-house use?
We have 2 PowerEdge 2900s, when one of them was delivered FedEx wouldn't bring it up the stairs because it was around 80 pounds.

comment What type of hard drive would be recomended for a backup server?
I say this very embarrassed, but I was first handed a 1TB WD USB drive and told to use that for our backups now (even told I should use the software it comes with so we don’t have to upgrade Backup Exec). It took a while for them to get that I can’t run backups that way and that we need to use something better. It’s shocking to see some people hate their data this much to not care about how it’s saved.

I actually think this is my best option in terms of daily, weekly and archival backups and was my first choice when the DAT72 setup was purchased. And as much as I’d love to do it now there’s no way I’d get the funding still.

comment What is a “Dead loop on virtual device” and how do I fix it?
What's weird is it only seems to happen when there's a bittorrent client running. If I close out of it then no more errors come up. I guess I'll leave it be and see if something changes.
