System Architect / Senior Software Developer in Calgary, Alberta. Consulting on various projects, mostly with a .Net or classic ASP background. I've been developing Web applications and Websites for over a decade now ranging from using a propietary markup and ISAPI extensions(C/C++) to Classic ASP(VBScript) to ASP.Net(C# 1.0/1.1/2.0/3.5/4.0/MVC) I enjoy solving puzzles such as Sudoku and mysteries. My previous work involves using various Agile practices,e.g. Scrum and pair-programming, on a CMS project within an IS department's web development group.

I enjoy sharing what I've experienced, learned or think may be worth sharing with the world.

Are you doing any kind of caching of the .aspx files on the web server? If so, those would have to be flushed but that would be a rare case.

How big are your pages? How many queries are you expecting to do in a month? Those are a couple of starting questions. How much JavaScript would be downloaded?

Do you have a static IP? That would be my initial question after reading this as if you don't, that may be worth solving first as well as how to change your firewall's configuration to allow the traffic through.

comment IIS Query on starting file
It is the space if it was an ASP.Net project, as there are other kinds of .Net projects outside of the web world.

What version of IIS are you using as there are more than a handful out there? There may be a "Default Document" tab in the website's properties if you are using IIS 6.0 or lower. I'm not sure I understand what the question is in the first sentence as depending on what you put on the server, that software may create many folders as part of its install, e.g. some admin packages may have a /myappadmin folder possibly.

comment How will you roll out Windows 7 to your network's PCs when it is released?
While there isn't quite the strigent requirements where I work, it will be a similar process I think as PCs go out of warranty and the users get new machines this will slowly introduce the new OS. Same idea though where one doesn't store important files locally as that isn't backed up.
