comment stdout to gnu screen copy buffer
It worked mostly as Dennis said. Only small issue is that the echo will include a newline which may or may not cause problems with composing the command line with the paste (^a]). echo -n took care of that. A neat trick I learned today :-)

comment How to ensure mail delivery for our app?
In addition you might want to place a "Not heard back from us" link were one could enter the email address and check if there was a delivery error or not... It is not really my idea, but something I liked about this one-person shop: pimlicosoftware.com/invalidemails.htm

comment Is it possible to use a dyndns subdomain in third party host providers?
For simplicity I would use the shell script in a cron option. In fact, I once did successfully :-)

comment Setting $TERM for gnu screen
Yes, most likely your terminfo does not have screen-256color, so screen correctly refuses to set terminfo to that, since the apps you'd run under it would fail

comment Tools a Unix administrator cannot live without
My preferred PAGER now is actually w3m. It has all the features of less, and can double as a text mode web browser :-) I have also used a bash function to use vim in read only mode (this way I get nicely colored diffs for instance). The bash function is used just to decide whether to provide '-' (for read the stdin) or not (in case we are paging a file). Works like a charm, except for man pages where nroff does overstrike...

comment How to create an RPM for Suse
SuSE has 32bit compatibility libraries, so if it compiles, it should run fine. But since Robert Munteanu found some 10.3 x86_64 source RPMs I would go with that, since it will have more appropriate compile options.

comment DNS server for LAN
I agree that for small networks dnsmasq is very adequate, specially due to the auto update of the name if you do not have fixed ips on the IP lease.

comment Is there any limit on subfolders within folder
Note however that in order to access the files you need to provide a path < PATH_MAX which in Linux is usually set at 4096. So if your path is over 4k in length you might experience some failures

comment Why does Ubuntu 9.04 reset my Windows clock?
They are in dual boot because you boot either one or the other. Dual boot does not mean "in the same hard drive", even if that setup is the most common.
