comment Running arbitrary program as daemon from init script
Sorry, but this is not what I am looking for. As I said, I need the program to run as a service and be managed by the services framework.

comment Netcat (nc) traditional package for RHEL 6.x?
Oh, my mistake, sorry for not reading closely enough. I jumped to a conclusion. In any case, nc_cmd should be the right solution, unless there is something about the nc you're using that simply prevents it from actually working. If it can work at all, it should be a matter of finding the right options to use for your nc.

I would use innotop instead of mtop. You don't even need to install it; it's a single file you can just execute.

comment How can I achieve ACID on multiple physical front-end servers
It meets ACID requirements. Every committed transaction is guaranteed to be durable on all servers in the cluster, guaranteeing A and D. C and I are handled by clusterwide transaction certification at commit time.
