comment how fix telnet at port 25 or 110 or 143 connection failed?
That is a strong indication that a firewall on the server is still active. You might also verify that the built-in Windows firewall is either not running or properly configured.

TCP Ports 25 (SMTP)/110 (POP3)/143 (IMAP) should be opened on the server firewall and the router (if you want the server to be accessible from the Internet/another network). What are the telnet results when (telnet 127.0.0.1 [port number]) is attempted from the server itself?

You might consider options in bringing up its refresh-replacement in parallel off-line and then "swinging" it into production in place of the current system.

You're right, since the advent of DFS, Microsoft has "muddy up the waters" as they transition file synchronization to DFS. The following offers some ideas/information on utilizing DFS to replicate profiles - itknowledgeexchange.techtarget.com/itanswers/….

Lots of haters and egomaniacs around here - they know who they are and it's not too hard to spot them from their very unprofessional comments.

comment How can I provision/control bandwidth allocated to devices on the LAN?
As shiftycow has identified, the more flexible approach at the logical level will be to use an additional traffic shaper. We briefly looked at the NetEqualizer, but went with proceranetworks.com/plr-packetlogic-real-time-enforcement.html for their flexibility in management and reporting. You can "slice-n-dice" per IP, net-range and even application asymmetrically in both directions.

Maybe if the VLAN membership tagging/identification can take place on each of the individual workstation NICs.

The example/approach of creating a second NAT should be more generic.
