comment Converting from OpenSolaris (EON) to FreeNAS
The latest versions of FreeNAS now appear to support dedup as well, so it may be able to import pools utilizing that feature too. I haven't had a chance to personally test that yet.

comment My Windows 7 PC receives a double gateway from the DHCP server. Why?
That is the default gateway as part of the 192.168.1.0 IP plan that ICS assigns. Enabling ICS will assign 192.168.1.1 onto the NIC that it is enabled on.

comment V2V conversion - linux distro from .vmdk to XenServer .vhd
It's coming along. There's a few in incubation on sourceforge.net (sourceforge.net/directory/os:linux/?q=virtualbox) and I think Sun was also cooking up their Enterprise oriented tools prior to the Oracle transition. Most, if not all of the plumbing is there. It's just a matter of building good functional UIs to tap into its full potential.

comment Is it possible to detect clients behind a NAT?
Actually, it was answered by the manual examples and logic. There are also Layer 7 security devices which can also detect NAT devices with good reliability as well.

comment Detecting a host doing a port sweep across multiple interfaces/networks
"All the port sweep detection mechanisms (scanlogd, psad) I've currently seen all seem to focus on a single host being scanned for multiple ports." - update the logic to track against multiple IP occurrences vs. multiple ports.

comment Is it possible to detect clients behind a NAT?
Doesn't mean they don't do it and students don't waive their "rights" with their agreement to the terms. Same thing with firearms in states with firearms provisions. Most folks incorrectly assume the Federal laws apply when they only specifically cover K through 12.

"plugging in their equipment incorrectly" - no mention of WAN-side here...

Based on that rational, the dorm resident should also be able to drink too if they are of legal age, but that's not always the case...

comment How to limit the normal users from accessing registry, group policy etc?
Head over to "Computer Management" and then under "Local Users and Groups" select "Groups" where you can "right-click" and create "New Group..."

comment How to limit the normal users from accessing registry, group policy etc?
That's if they do not want to mess with the default groups, if they decide to lock things down even tighter or vary from it in any other ways.

comment Strange CPU usage on Windows Server 2003 vs. CentOS5.4
You might try determining if there are any processes and/or applications on the CentOS platform which can be be disabled. The approach may recover some additional processing. Updates to the needed processes and/or supporting applications may also yield some additional efficiencies.

comment Are SSL Client Certificates well supported by all major browsers?
Actually, there may be additional warnings if a certificate is not used in the application/use that is has been identified for (if it can be somehow installed in the first place).

comment Delivery status notification, invalid header: bad MIME
Testing what has been pointed out should not be too challenging since you have access to the source. The code itself has very little to do as to what the receiving system/server is testing and expecting.

You might verify the Outlook configuration or maybe create a test account on Dovecot in all upper case to assess the result.

comment Routing in Windows XP with IP restriction
You did not elaborate that there are additional systems on the second connection. The same approach can be used to add a route on the forwarding system between the two networks (if the systems is setup to forward packets between its interfaces - e.g. route).
