comment slapd wont start after system reboot. Possible BIND issue?
So without the "-d" no logs are generated at all? If there are some can you post them?

From the first paste it looks like it starts OK. You then hit control-C so it shuts down: "346 ^Cdaemon: shutdown requested and initiated."

You could open up the case to trace the wire...or just press the button.

comment Use puppet to change the IP address on the nodes
Both will work but the better way is to use a template and a parametrized class. See docs.puppetlabs.com/learning/modules2.html

By "hardware operations engineer" do you mean somebody who works with equipment at a data center?

comment Batch MySql script stopped with error “(104)Connection reset by peer”
You could probably get away with beefing up the server but a web interface was not designed for batch processing. As your import job grows so must your server. Take a look at ux.stackexchange.com/questions/3170/… for ideas on how you can shoehorn it in.

comment Scalable Multi Server E-mail setup using Linux/Dovecot
I don't have a proven answer but I'd investigate using dovecot's dsync replication with haproxy in front of postfix (using the proxy protocol so you get the client IP for spam filtering) and also haproxy in front of roundcube. All the mail goes to every server so I'm not sure it "scales."

By what process did you determine using Postfix, Dovecot, and roundcube is the best way to meet the requirements? I would have tended towards recommending gmail or exchange online because being a postmaster sucks.

comment Chrooted user can't login with SSH
Those are not the correct permissions. ChrootDirectory: "Specifies the pathname of a directory to chroot(2) to after authentication. All components of the pathname must be root-owned directories that are not writable by any other user or group."
