comment Oracle (xe) 10 vs 11 . Have I lost the SQL tuning pages ? Am I going out of my mind?
To me, it looks like they shifted the focus of their documentation away from web interface administration. This page looks like the direct equivalent of the chapter 8 page you linked to in your question: docs.oracle.com/cd/E17781_01/server.112/e18804/… But indeed, some of the info that used to be there is now gone.

comment Can't Install Win2k8 On KVM - Classic 0x80070013 error
Interesting. I wouldn't even have considered anything like this because I'd think the Windows HAL wouldn't like it and would throw a BSOD. Glad to know about this approach.

Same ISO as you, the KVM drivers from the Fedora project.

I wanted to be sure it didn't have anything to do with the install ISO. So I just tried replicating your issue by trying the installation on KVM with two IDE cd drives, but mine is installing fine after loading the drivers.

Ah, terribly sorry then. I had this exact problem literally just this past week. Not having the install disk mounted was the cause in my case.

Didn't you replace the install ISO with the driver ISO at some point?

@3molo, you're right but you could have just edited instead of downvoting. I've edited the answer to be closer to the truth.

Yeah, we uninstall NetworkManager on all our server boxes too. The developers are trying to make it a viable tool for servers, but I don't like where it's at right now.

comment bridged network problems running VirtualBox appliance inside VMware server
Check the NIC properties on the Windows 2008 R2 VM (you know, this window: i.stack.imgur.com/2iKfk.jpg) and tell us what type of drivers are in that list of checkboxes. My gut tells me that the VirtualBox driver might be interfering with the VMWare Tools driver.

Could you show us the output of ls -al /path/to/cacti/rra? With the actual path to the cacti directory of course.

comment Smoothest workflow to handle SSH host verification errors?
Using ssh-keygen -R to resolve the problem with conflicting keys is also what the ssh client in Ubuntu suggests in the error message when this problem occurs.

comment [Ubuntu]df Total size is not correct compared with the size of the disk
This is a very interesting fact that few people know about. If you want to get rid of this reserved space, you can do so with tune2fs -m 0 /dev/sdX This carries the risk of not being able to do any maintenance on it if it ever gets completely full.

Are your ssh key files located in C:\Users\Piers\.ssh ? I think this is where SmartGit looks for them.

comment Why is ext3 so slow to delete large files?
I know your question is in relation to NTFS, but I've found the best resources explaining the concept of indirect block mapping are the ones explaining the difference between allocation in ext3 and ext4. For example linuxologist.com/01general/… and ext4.wiki.kernel.org/index.php/…
