Adding Subject Alternate Names (SAN) to an existing Cert Signing Request (CSR) Can you import the Cert & Private Key if you generate it on another machine and export it? |

GPO Computer Settings not updating. Default Domain policy and all User Settings work fine How many DCs do you have? Can your clients communicate with all? Do all your DCs have consistent Netlogon/Sysvol shares (or are some files/folder missing on some DCs)? |

How to subnet hosted VMs Is it just a typo or do you really have your firewall on 192.168.0.0/24 and your VMs on 192.168.1.0/30? If this is the case there is no way for your firewall to route because your VMs are not on the same subnet to start... |

Two domain controllers took forever to boot @Joeqwerty & Chris S - MS Best Practice Analyzer for 2008 R2 DCs will inform you that your DCs should point to an different DNS server for primary and localhost for secondary. (I don't think it would be helpful when all DNS servers are down though...) |

Multiple vCPUs or multiple identical VMs, which is better? @Chopper3 - Top of page 8 - vmware.com/pdf/exchange_best_practices.pdf (yes it is exchange specific, but it was published in 2010.) |

Problem with DNS on Windows 2008 R2 For #1, it wants Server A to have the Primary DNS as Server B and the Secondary DNS as the loopback address, and the reverse setup on Server B. (I suspect you have the primary set to the 192.168.1.X address of the server.) |

When to use active directory? If you aren't going to host your own email Windows Server Foundation might be a better fit. microsoft.com/windowsserver2008/en/us/foundation.aspx |

Key Things to look for in a Data Center It would have been nice... Our DC said we weren't allowed to have a UPS in our racks, they gave us a reason, but I don't recall what it was. |
