I'm just a young blood trying to make it in this industry. Currently working as a SysAdmin in a non-profit organization.

We need more information about your infrastructure. What OS / web server are you running? If you're running apache, what does the document root portion of your config look like?

@diegows perhaps you'd care to share what you think he needs then rather than just stating what they "don't" need.

comment Best practice on how to update & reboot a live server
In addition, I would give yourself a pretty big window to install these updates, as 2 years worth of updates will surely take quite a while and quite a few reboots.

I would highly recommend implementing a regular patch schedule, especially for mission critical machines.

Why not use TSGateway? That should get you through your proxy as it uses TCP 443

Ah, my apologies. The echo value was 0.

Putting the $? after the check_snmp command simply gives me a No OIDs Specified error.

I could certainly do that, however I'm kind of hoping that someone knows of a way to evaluate strings rather than numbers with check_snmp :)

comment Providing Read-only permissions to mailbox in Exchange 2010
Ah did not realize that full access was a requirement for OWA. I would actually prefer it be visible from Outlook rather than OWA, however I was using OWA in case the was a lag in permissions propagation.

I assume the user is on a domain because you're using GPO - that said, if you use a logon script you don't need to store credentials within the script

comment How to perform Hardware disaster recovery with backup server
Good point @TomTom - What i'm discussing does not encompass a full disaster recovery plan, but rather local, non-storage related, hardware failure. Any backup plan should also include backups of server, with at least one copy of such data being remote at all times.

Perhaps Veeam would be the best source of information for cmdlets relating to their software.

comment windows xp - how to add a ipp printer by batch/vbs
While I did not down vote you, I suspect it's because this information can be obtained easily with a google search. When asking questions we expect that you've at least done some research into your problem instead of simply asking how to do it. We'll help you resolve problems, but won't do your research for you.

dumb question, but I've no experience with memory dumps - can these be done after the incident or would they need to be done "during" the incident?

The only thing that is not "informational" is an error insufficient video RAM

Apologies for misinterpretation - It's a VDMK which is DAS to the VM host. The physical hardware is on a RAID 6 - the same RAID 6 houses the C:\ drive (though that is a different VDMK) as well as another VM.

E:\ drive is the mail file storage area where users store documents

comment Is it recommended to log off from Windows when finished working on a server with RDP?
They've also released TSGateway as well. Just because they've released methods so that you don't have to use RDC, doesn't mean that it's recommended by MS or best practices that you don't use RDC. I have a bank card that allows me to bank without going into the bank, but does that mean it's best practices to not go into a branch and see a teller?

Who recommends not RDP'ing to your servers?
