comment Best way to deploy my node.js app on a Varnish/Nginx server
@cyberx86 Is it possible to have SSL with this particular setup too? I heard that Varnish doesn't support SSL, but my Node app I want to setup will need SSL.

comment Is it worth running Nginx for static files of my Node.js app?
Hello Nic. Maybe that's a point really. I'm using web sockets heavily (which can be done with Nginx but needs compiling again with the right module) and most of my static files are actually coming from Amazon S3. I'm trying to toss up Nginx over node-http-proxy. Having Node.js right up there on port 80 shouldn't be a problem? Many people do this I believe?

comment Using aptitude to install extra php modules (after php has already been installed)?
@Zoredache When you say a virtual machine, do you literally mean a Ubuntu Server 10.04 setup through something like virtualbox? The server is on Linode that has a pretty comprehensive backup system, which I have confidence in. But you are right, I don't have major confidence right now, this is my first (very busy) website I've migrated to it's own VPS from a MediaTemple Grid shared server. It's all gone well (after much research) but it makes sense to have some like a virtual machine.

Excellent. I'm not using Apache, I have Nginx and a thing called PHP-FPM (basically PHP with FastCGI baked in, so to speak).
