comment How to set interface settings for WINS using netsh?
Okay, it seems that one need to use the second command on DHCP clients and the first command is actually meant for WINS Servers which have DHCP addresses.

comment How to set interface settings for WINS using netsh?
I've actually been trying netsh int ipv4 set winsservers name=LAN source=dhcp on a desktop machine, but nothing has appeared in the GUI, and nothing in ipconfig /all. The command appears to be accepted, but with no effect. Is a reboot needed? The remove server with a static address which I need to do this on has no GUI, so I need to make sure this is correct before I try it on that, as I do not want to mess it up.

comment Apache2 Manage Server default
The way you can avoid the IP address defaulting to the default site is to make another blank default site and have a vhost pointing to it. To make that site the default on Debian-based is to have the symlink in /etc/apache2/sites-available/ start with the lowest number, like 000.

No, you do not need to do this, and you should not do this if you have Apache listening on more than one IP address and you want to keep them separate.

comment Specific font in Windows 7 works, but in Windows Server 2003 doesn't. Why?
It looks like you imported the font in a way other than dragging it to the Fonts folder, or by using a font manager. Using the command line to copy a font to the system font folder does not enable it, IIRC.

comment Create new AD account similar to a current user
That what the hidden Default User profile is for. It's a template for new users, but I am not sure how to have multiple profiles and apply them. There are also GPOs and Group Policy Preferences, which would be easy to make different sets of.

@ViniciusOttoni: Okay, it's not a Unicode issue then. but something is wrong with your OS installation, or maybe you need to try Windows Update or something.

@ViniciusOttoni: I'm not sure - selecting properties in the font folder doesn't tell you much. You can try using a trial version of a font manager, like Extensis Suitcase, which may give your more details, or you can just see if it works okay in Vista, but doesn't in XP or Win2000.

When you say 'set this GPO's link order higher than the other GPO', do you mean a numerically higher Precedence, or higher in the list (which would be a lower numerical Precedence)?

@EladDotan: IIRC, for XP all you need to do is replace ipv4 with ip for this particular command.

comment Can WinRE be removed from virtual machines?
I see advantages in keeping VHD sizes down for portability, storage migration, backup storage, network deployment and general leanness, and it does not add any complexity, but only removes a large component which could very well be fairly useless on VMs, hence my question.
