SSL isn't good enough. Your website can be hacked.
Help solve the problem by advocating these RFCs:

TLSA (formerly DANE for DNS) Fixes the hackable CA problem

TLS-OBC: Fixes TLS, and the Related Domain Cookie Attack

Why "makerofthings7"? It's a challenge to "make seven things in my life of significant quality and value". Who knows if those things will take the form of software, art, or people. (I'm not married, no kids yet)

Sure these custom attributes are added by Exchange and I think several of them are added during the default AD install. There are Custom Attributes 1 through 15.

This is fantastic! I don't see custom attribute #14 there, so perhaps that is implemented somewhere else? Or perhaps it is "Extension-Name"?

Reason for 5000 characters: The developers keep changing their idea on the schema since that is a non reversible change, we are asking them to write to a single value. The length is high because they are serializing the objects as XML strings and sticking it into AD.

comment How do I set up a one way trust when some DCs are firewalled off from each other?
Do you think Direct Access could be of benefit?\

That may be the issue, some DC's are on subnets that can't route to the others. This thing happens when we quickly acquire new companies and add them onboard. Conflicting subnets get isolated until we can Re-IP

Thanks do all DC's need to be able to communicate with all others? Just the ones holding a FSMO? Is IPv6 required?

comment Possible to use Azure xDrive (PageBlob) with on-premises Windows 2008R2
I guess the angle I was going is that it appears the functionality can be hacked together to work regardless of the "official" status. One could get an Azure account, copy the relevant drivers to a Windows 2008R2 instance, and have an unlicensed hack working. But since you're a respected Azure MVP I'm pretty sure you can't say this or advise on any experiment that attempts to do the same

comment Active Directory Subdomain vs new “Tree in Forest” … is there a difference?
@Dave Agreed, I'm creating an argument for this purpose, but it may be an internal fight not worth having.

Do any policies inherit? (GPO or otherwise)

@Jessen The motivation is to support CA Siteminder / Arcott which needs to separate LDAP accounts by "LDAP Containers" (something the Dev says). It is also to migrate features off of ADAM

Since the PageBlob technology is HTTPS I simply don't understand why someone hasn't replicated this in their own datacenter (albiet with high latency) blogs.msdn.com/b/windowsazurestorage/archive/2011/04/16/…
