Have a sneaking suspicion this has something to do with stale DB connections.. just re-evaluating our connection pooling, will keep you posted!

comment Virtualized firewall under Hyper-V?
Thanks! So do I set the default gateway of the Hypervisor to the VM too? what if a user on the LAN manually sets their default gateway to the IP of a router behind the VM (on the WAN)? .. you can probably tell this is all new to me!

comment Is the airport extreme's 50 user limit the same in multiple access point configurations?
Thanks @EvanAnderson I'll be sure to check them out! What's the price range like? Would I be better off (signal wise) with 2 ruckus APs than 3 airports?

@TomO'Connor thanks! How's the range on those things? Would the signal get through some of those thick walls?

@MilesErickson that's a good point :P broadband probably not, but the primary clients will be using the domain controller and file shares etc mostly.

It was particularly with the WAP2000 model (small business AP).. Yeah using the client did put me off a bit! :P

Thanks for your answer @MDMarra! We don't foresee more than about 50 users for now, just thinking ahead for peaks when we have big events etc.. the main reason for the multiple APs is to get around the thick walls with wire mesh etc! I'll deffinately take a look at the cisco models you suggested :D

I should clarify: I'm a learn by doing kinda guy.. And i'm not against advanced routing at all i'd just like somebody to explain this kind of configuration.. that way I learn and then the next person like me has a place to go to learn too!

comment Which *light* ubuntu to use as a git central server?
Thanks.. @Joseph only problem is that server only really gets used at the end of the day when we're pushing our work up.. so it could be crashing at any point without us noticing.. but will look anyway :) we've actually had similar problems with our ruby on rails web server.. maybe starting to see a trend here.. I should mention now that we're running on Microsoft Hyper-V with the proper integration components installed.. Our hypervisor box is getting push to the max at the moment so i'd like to switch to gitosis (or something else light) anyway! :P

comment Cron runs my script but script doesn't do anything, something to do with mail error??? “got status 0x004b#012”
Beautiful.. Thanks, I forgot the server it wasn't working on is used primarily for hosting ruby on rails applications while the other is used for PHP.. so i recently installed ruby and rake in the default locations on the PHP server just for this script and i must have done it differently for rails.. because "which rake" on the rails server returns: /usr/local/bin/rake and on the PHP server returned /usr/bin/rake.. Anyway.. I'm boring you! thanks!
