comment Change source IP address based on the system user
This is exactly what I am using now since it does not seem to be possible to rewrite the src addr using policy routing. It somehow makes sense, the "reroute check" in the packet flow probably only looks at which interface a packet should be delivered. The source address is likely filled in when a socket is opened and connected.

@Glueon That makes no difference as I expected. The filter table is visited slightly later than the mangle table for OUTPUT. See this picture of the packet flow.

comment Complex Nginx Vhost Config
@user3393046 You could do that at nginx level using rewrite, but you could also make PHP parse the URL.

comment How can I prepend to PATH while running Ansible's pip module?
Be also aware that ansible_env refers to the environment of the SSH user, not the sudo environment. ansible_env.USER may therefore result in root rather than an unprivileged user.

If you need to prepend ~/bin, use PATH: "{{ansible_env.HOME}}/bin:{{ansible_env.PATH}}". If you instead use PATH: "~/bin:{{ansible_env.PATH}}", then some programs (such as Python's shutil.which) are unable to use that component.

For such single letter translations, you could also use tr: NHOST=$(echo "$NHOST" | tr . _)
