$0 is bash script name, $1 is first arg to script and isn't what was asked for

Not sure why someone modifed the code to use $1 instead of $0. Isn't $1 the first arg to the bash script? I wanted the path to the executing bash script, not it's first argument.

comment NFS I/O monitoring
I've found iostat to be a poor choice for obtaining IO data over short intervals because my implementation (sysstat-7.0.2-3.e15) only ever shows wBlk_svr/s as a rate since boot time. I like to think that newer versions can show this as a counter instead.

comment good failover / high availability solutions for linux?
not sure why someone marked this down... this looks like a viable solution (though there are always technical gotchas... at least this doesn't look like a 'service' which was my first impression).

It actually must be over RMI because it's a java application I'm talking to, not a real database.
