Questions for Beginner to Windows System Administration The correct technical term for the tool is a LART. ;) Use of quicklime and halon are also mandatory. |

Total Virtual Memory in Windows XP 32bit You're better off not using the /3GB switch unless you know for certain that you need it. Generally only large databases really need it. Only having 1 GB of address space for the OS stuff can actually be detrimental to performance most of the time. |

Servers harrassed by individual on constantly changing IPs -1 for the rm -rf (which I hope was intended as a joke). |

Logging in as the same user multiple times in Remote Desktop Windows Server 2008 That's a new one for me! I don't know the answer, but +1 for an interesting question. |

Is there a machine readable list/feed of Microsoft update files? It actually occurs to me that one valid reason for wanting neither WU nor WSUS might be if you wanted to copy off the patches for an unconnected machine, but I guess the OP would have said that if so. |

Windows Server Login Alert Tools Only domain accounts if it's in a GPO. The LDAP:// stuff would also need to be changed to the correct namespace for local accounts, you wouldn't use ADSystemInfo, and your SMTP permissions would need to allow a local account to access it. Besides which, if someone has "abuse the server" local access, they can already bypass a local logon script anyway. |

Linux to Windows 7 migration Problem is that very very little of the above is actually grounded in reality and is really really slipping into the "subjective and argumentative" zone. |

Best Raid Type for SQL Server +1, correct but it's SQL Server so Linux has nothing to do with it. |

Switching Windows 2003 Active Directory servers You actually should demote otherwise you'll still have an orphaned DC in your AD (single master vs multi master doesn't come into it). You can of course just power it down and use NTDSUTIL to remove the orphaned DC, but that should not be used unless you have no other option (e.g. catastrophic hardware failure and no backup, or some idiot just powers it down). Demote is the graceful way to go. |

Why are Class C IP addresses preferred in private networks? Short, sweet and to the point. +1 |
