comment Replace two Active Directory Servers keeping the same IP?
You'll want sonar to watch replication: microsoft.com/download/en/… In the "sites and services" snap in, you can force replication

comment Replacing a Hard Disk in RAID 5 Array with Newer Version
I use different drives all the time without issue. While there could be incompatibility issues with specific drives and specific controllers, usually its fine.

comment opvnvpn: addressing nodes in LAN-behinds
We do both - full tunnels (clients behind both ends), clients tunnels (single client to full network), and even multiple vpns (from my laptop, I can ping a remote client, traversing three openvpn instances). Nothing esoteric.

In top, what is the io wait (wa) at while doing the backup? I'm not surprised a 60 day rotation is taking 15 hours. Then you can run iostat -x 5.

If he removed the package, the config files are kept; once the package is purged, the config files are deleted.

comment subdomain redirects to subfolder
The answers do the same thing in different ways: Your's leaves everything alone but www.mohamedkadri.com. Mine redirects everything to mohamedkadri.com except for fr.mohamedkadri.com. Depending on your goal, either one could be best.

comment Perl or Python, better suited for Unix system automation?
As a sysadmin I regularly write over 100 lines. Usually once I hit 100 lines I start wishing I hadn't used bash :-) I'll use python (used to use perl) if I know if will be that long ahead of time.

comment Single IP address accessing private URLs in emails I'm sending
Its easy to guess GUIDs (and take forever to guess them all), but impossible to guess without hitting wrong ones. But if the links were properly encrypted with PGP, perhaps someone broken into your app.

comment Fastest way to move files from a guest VM to the host?
In the VI client you can add and remove disks. Are you saying even after you've removed the disk from the VM, ESXi still locks it? I don't recall that being the case, I'd have to test it. However you can still take a snapshot and copy that; then you don't need to bother with adding/removing the disk

Did they also visit any non-existent URLs of the same format? Maybe they received one of your URLs and decided to start scanning for more?

comment Can two disk images be compared?
rsync compares contents of files by breaking them into chunks and hashing them. diff would be faster if he only wants to know they diff. cmp is best if he actually wants to compare the files.

comment Can two disk images be compared?
If you're going to worry about md5 collisions on iso files, you should worry about collisions with rsync (which uses md5 along with a checksum).

Yes, you could do md5sum foo.iso bar.iso

comment How can I prevent Apache from asking for credentials on non SSL site
Do the non-SSL sites have secure sections? If not, the DirectoryMatch won't match and you're safe. You can also change the RewriteCond to check for specific domain names; then it will only trigger on those three sites.
