+1 This is a great point. Targeted threats are a lot more dangerous than random probes (the script kiddies just move on to easier targets if you have any decent security). The targeted attacker may know a lot more about specific vulnerabilities or even password patterns. It's good to be able to recognize these attacks outside of the swarm of spam on port 22.
