I've got wireshark installed, but don't know much about a trace. What do I need to include in the trace?

It's a difficult situation b/c the Comcast guy (who is here now) doesn't seem too cluefull. And the person who runs this shop (it's a coworking space; i'm just the only member who connects to a workplace through a vpn) is non-technical.

We have a static IP, so we'd have to change that to go into bridged. Also, you have to have a Comcast engineer change to bridged, because the config is locked down to only have a few options available to the client. I also understand that at any time, a Comcast account person can switch the bridged thing off, since it's not "standard." I like your idea of another business class modem, but the company I'm supporting is not technical by nature, and generally counts on Comcast support.

comment SQL Server 2005 Mirror table between databases on same server
Honestly, for some reason I thought copying and moving the table to a different database on the same server would make a difference in processing speed and availability, but maybe I'm wrong. I read the hell out of the table and create thousands of records on it based on parsing text from it. But I don't know now if I've just been silly because they are on the same server. Is there a huge penalty for joining/processing files across databases? I keep the large files I generate from the table in question on one DB so I can keep the production system light for remote backup.

That particular table is used for other processes that pretty much lock it up, so I make a copy and work from that; that copy is never altered in the other DB, so it's pretty much a one-way push all the time. Replication seemed like overkill for one table, but it worked - until a lot of little things made it stop working, rebooting, etc. Had to reinitialize the sub a lot. For one table..

comment Secure file transfer over Internet to Win2k3 Server/64-bit?
There is already a VPN that I'm going over, but it's enterprise wide, so I need to encrypt within that from server to workstation. It's largely script files.

comment Set up root applications on IIS 6 on Windows Server 2003 without host headers?
So how would I configure the test sites - as websites on the server with anything in the host headers? And the IPs?

Is there any way to set up an IIS-root-level rewriting thing to make the urls work?
