comment Hard link files within directory to reduce space usage, by “version”
How about a solution for envs hosted on same box, while avoiding over-duplication of files? (that's why I was thinking of hard-links) Two envs are hosted on 1 machine, Two more envs are on separate machines each. Contemplating even hosting it all from a single box or network share, again using some type of versioning to serve each env

comment Webserver: chrooted PHP gives mysql.sock error when attempting to reach mysql
That's a valid suggestion, but my concern is that /home/jail could be "volatile". Any suggestion on how to modify /etc/jailkit/jk_init.ini to force jailkit to create a hardlink to the mysqld.sock file, or some other jailkit compatible solution that doesn't risk the MySQL server if the jail is (for instance) completely deleted and rebuilt?

comment Run Resin (caucho.com) on port 80 in Ubuntu, using unprivileged user?
In resin.xml, just edit the user/group xml tags. Haven't found any issues with that. The procedure above can also be altered and reused for running Tomcat (or TCat) as non-root.

Found out after all this, that Resin supports running as a user/group natively :-)
