Voretaq7 thanks for your comments. We have thought about implementing a solution on application side where we encrypt the data and store a key version with the encrypt data. When a new key is created a version id would be associated with the new key. Any data that is encrypted going forward would be encrypted with the new key and the encrypted data would be saved with the version id in another column. This would allow us not to have decrypt and re-encrypt a column in a table for key rotation. The policy for key rotation is not debatable. It’s a company policy. We would like to have db solution
