comment Best practices for time syncing a WS2012R2 domain controller that is a Hyper-V virtual machine?
@riahc3 I can't comment on why you got downvoted for that but for a general discussion about downvotes i'd advise you read chat.stackexchange.com/rooms/25560/… which you didn't succeed in deleting when you deleted the answer that got downvoted.

comment How to set the command prompt font on XP?
well ok though it helps to know what Font would work. Sadly the questioner didn't bother to comment on what. Of these i.imgur.com/VnL83PC.png the only that work are dejavu and lucida(a default) and droid and consolas(maybe a default). Miriam has hebrew characters and I think is monospaced, but isn't supported by cmd based on my test.

-1 your question doesn't have much value because you didn't even comment about what font (if any) you found worked.

comment How to get rid of QueryServiceStatus: Win32 error 1062 when you try to start sshd on Cygwin?
i've foudn i can reproduce this error by going to services.msc cygwin sshd logon tab, and switching between local account(cyg_server), and system. each time there's a change, it needs an ssh-host-config -y done from a command prompt started via right click run as administrator, or from a runas /user:Administrator c:\windows\system32\cmd.exe That ssh-host-config -y must precede the net start sshd / cygrunsrv -S sshd. And if it doesn't work from a 'run as admin..' try from a runas/user:... cmd prompt.

check his profile, he was last seen dec 28th 2013. But you should know that your answer still has value whether it helped him or not.

comment Manually flush iptables in rescue mode
There can't be that many ways he could've used to save his rules.. presumably either in an iptables configuration file he loads with iptables-restore or through a script, so I don't see why you can't cover whatever possibilities there are for how he saved his rules, rather than requiring the specific way he used to save his rules. It's more useful to others if the answer covers any case, where it's possible to cover it, so if there aren't too many cases. And I doubt there can be that many cases in how he saved his rules

comment what is mda (fetchmail) and mta (sendmail)?
Is it the case that an MDA runs IMAP to store the email, and the computer running the MDA also runs an SMTP server to receive the email from the MTA?

comment block all packets in windows 7 (so nothing appears in wireshark)? Can anything locally installed do it?
@Matt No. And it's not just curiosity. It actually makes sense for a firewall to be able to block everything and if it can and you can then allow what you want then it's clear what it's doing and it offers a good amount of control in a logical way with clear rules on what it is and isn't allowing so that you know.

you have not read the question beyond the title. I actually mentioned that step already. And no picture is necessary.

comment block all packets in windows 7 (so nothing appears in wireshark)? Can anything locally installed do it?
I don't think it works like that. Because I am not seeing a ton of things in wireshark. The fact that i'm not seeing a ton of things in wireshark(as I would if blocked things still showed up there), that implies that things that are blocked do not show up in wireshark. What you suggest is that wireshark would still see all sorts of things, VNC, webpage requests, even when blocking, but that is not the case.
