comment Installing PHP with MySQL support?
@matt_tm - that error means you've got your mysql support working. Otherwise you'd get some version of a "method not found" error. You can sort out the authentication issues in your php code.

This time you've hit it. Running strings against the rpm it appears to be hardcoded to install under perl 5.8.8. I've reverted to 5.8.8 and it's now working! Hopefully there wasn't a good reason I'd upgraded to 5.8.9

I did find an old RRDs.pm in under the perl 5.8.8 libs, but after copying it into the 5.8.9 tree it jsut segfaults.

Unfortunately I already had rrdtool-1.4.4-1.el5.rf.i386 installed from the CentOS repository, so that's not it either

comment Unix: Accessed Denied, and cannot delete file?
@Gilles: seems you're right. I did several tests before my original comment, but now it's working like you describe. Wish I knew what I did different the first time.

comment How do i know which program-user access a certain folder in linux debian?
The problem with SSH was with files occasionally ending up owned by root, despite your settings. They claimed to have fixed it, but that was about the time I switched to git.
