comment Windows Server 2003 - checking TS sessions (remote desktop client)
With GoDaddy I actually end up ordering a reboot from them in order to get the sessions back. Its a pain, but it works. However if someone comes up with a better answer here I would love to use it instead.

comment Windows Server 2003 - Every time I remote desktop in… it sits on “Applying User Settings” for 30 seconds
So why does the DNS being setup incorrectly cause this error? Is it because it cannot find the rescources the profile wants to find and cannot?

comment ubuntu: scan hard disk for physical problems
however once you get the spinrite disk made it will work with any OS. It is agnostic to the OS, as long as you have your computer able to boot from a CD.

I agree with the way you are setting things up. Block everything, ingress and egress, then only allow what you HAVE to have. Does your hardware firewall report what port traffic it is blocking? If so I would go from there and run the port number. This website (done by Steve Gibson and grc.com) grc.com/port_80.htm is fantastic for learning what a port typically does. Change the number in the domain, or use the box on the page to do so.

Whether they get away with it or not (even whether you agree with it or not) what Dan suggested unless you know the band and they are no represented by a major label, what Dan suggested is illegal. I did not vote it down, nor do I intend to, but I can understand that people would.

+1 Evan, I am not sure how you do it day in day out, but your answers are amazing.

By "VPS" do you mean GoDaddy? I have a GoDaddy server and have the same problem and may have the some insight, but wanted to know your situation first.

@AdamB yeah if you find any weblinks I would be VERY interested because I might need to examine my firewall a little closer :) I do know that other ports are used for file sharing (printers too I think).

Good point on virtualization, it really isn't virtualized. It is more "run somewhere else" which is like virtualization, but honestly very different.

I did not know that Citrix already had this feature, although I was aware that Microsoft bought SoftGrid which ties in with remote-app nicely. So that makes it seem more of a feature checklist instead of a move which would be good.
