comment Apache cannot find virtual host if domain is the same as server FQDN
I didn't have that line in /etc/hosts, but I did have the virtual host I was trying to create as my /etc/hostname. Adding a ServerName to 000-default worked, thanks

comment 100% uptime for a web application
Instead of saying it can't be done, just quote them a crazy price. I guarantee you if you tell them that it will cost $100 billion to have 100% uptime they won't take you up on it.

comment I'm looking for secure Linux kiosk software
I'm looking for the same thing - except that I'd like to install it to a hard drive for better performance, while still retaining the read-only advantages of the CD.

Actually, it looks like the trial ended (or was supposed to end) on June 9th, so I don't think it's possible to get in on the trial at this time. I can only hope that it was successful, and that it will be announced/shipping soon. engadgetmobile.com/2009/04/08/…

comment Access Windows Boot Manager selector when timeout is set to 0?
Thanks for replying. I can't seem to find anything in the BIOS for legacy USB support. I think you may have identified the problem - when I hold down a key I can hear the motherboard continually beep when the vendor logo flashes, but the sound disappears once the screen is gone.

Oh, MAC. It would be better if it ordered a Mac from the Apple store for you. ;-)

comment PuTTY automatically supply password
I think it's a bit harsh to characterize hard-coding passwords into script/shortcuts as pointing a gun at my foot - there are definitely legitimate reasons for doing this, and my situation counts as one.

comment PuTTY automatically supply password
I've gone with a hybrid of both your answers - loading a profile with the window settings and using -pw to specify a password. Unfortunately, I can only award one accepted answer, but I still voted yours up.

I can't seem to get it to work - I get back unknown option "pw:<password>"

comment How to run OS X (Leopard or Tiger) in Windows?
@Lucas Aardvark: I don't care that you use Linux, but I don't think it's fair to hate Apple for charging for their products.

comment Mac OS X: how to run GUI apps on a headless machine
I remember this working as well, although you needed sudo access to do it. However, I just tried it with a Leopard machine and while the menu bar appears the main window of the app does not. If all you need is the app to be running (i.e. iTunes for sharing or bittorrent) then this might work.
