I work with Microsoft technologies primarily, including PowerShell, ConfigMgr, Windows 7 deployment, Windows Server 2008 R2, Active Directory, etc.

comment Difference between isntalling a msi using “Invoke-WmiMethod”(via a cmd file) and installing directly on the server
Show some code, and provide more detail. What is "key file in bin directory?" Why are you expecting there to necessarily be a reboot?

comment IPAM installation fails due to insufficient SQL permissions
I granted the computer's Active Directory computer account the sysadmin role on the database engine instance. That includes the CREATE DATABASE permission, among most others.

comment Powershell deleting files with regular expressions
The PowerShell pipeline is a huge performance bottleneck. For large datasets, I'd suggest iterating over the $results variable with foreach and using an if statement for comparison.

Yeah, gotta be careful if you only get a single item back -- by casting it explicitly as an array, you get consistent results, so you can iterate over it using foreach.

Blah. Reasons like this are why I avoid built-ins like Foreach-Object in favor of using the good ol' raw foreach looping construct.

Is there anything common about the filetypes that are getting marked newer?

comment Why can't I delete a folder that I have ownership (+ children) AND full control permissions (+ children) on?
Ok, so I ran handle.exe > c:\handle.txt, used Notepad2 to search the log for one of the folder names, and it can't find anything. So, no dice, sorry.

Excellent -- I'll grab Sysinternals Process Explorer or handle.exe and see if anything has a file handle open in that folder. I should have thought of that, thanks.

comment DSGET escapes hash signs (#) in outputted Distinguished Names (DN)s but expects unescaped hash signs for input
Wait a second .. I have no idea what I was thinking earlier. Forget I said that. Find is a built-in command to cmd.exe, not an external executable, but I still have no idea why I even suggested that.

Find isn't an external executable, is it? :) Or do you not want to pipe anything?

I don't know if there's a N version available. This link will show you a list of 802.11n devices that DD-WRT supports though: dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Supported_Devices_802.11n

I probably should have clarified why a bit more, but everyone else has already done a good job of that. It gives great reporting and visibility into your current patch state. Plus, it's free. :)
