I program in C# / ASP.NET professionally, with MSSQL on the database side. For fun I work on iOS apps both in Objective-C and MonoTouch. I also still remember a lot from my years working with Lotus Notes.

comment Moving a lotus database causes incoming mail failure
This is a server-fault type question, but I doubt you'll get enough votes to move it, so I've answered it below :)

comment Outlook Web Access calendar out of sync with Exchange / Outlook
I tried this and haven't heard anything from the user since. No news is good news, right? This seems to make the most sense to me so I've marked it as the correct answer. Note that intermittent issues like this one make it hard to know if we've truly fixed the problem or not.

comment Exporting data from Lotus Notes databases
It does, but you can comment out the two lines calling the Remove method, and the Save method that follows them, and then the code will simply extract without removing the attachments.

comment E-mail message of failed lock not identifying affected Lotus Notes documents
What kind of database does it link to? It would help to know what kind of database generated that message.

comment Benefits of Lotus Notes over Exchange
True, but Lotus Notes can do calendaring, notes (of course!), and to-do lists as well. By "email only solution" I meant to include all of the above. I've corrected it in my answer.

comment What are possible reasons why a calendar entry in OWA is at a different time than in Outlook?
Note that 99% of her calendar entries are fine. There is just this one recurring entry that is off, and only off in Outlook Web Access. For the other user who was invited to this meeting (in the same office, same server) the item appears at the correct time in both OWA and Outlook.

comment What are possible reasons why a calendar entry in OWA is at a different time than in Outlook?
I couldn't find anything that lets me control how the calendar item is displayed in relation to my time zone. If you find out where that option is specifically, please let me know.

comment What would cause previously sent emails to be sent again from Exchange the first time someone logs into Outlook via Citrix XenApp
Yes, by old emails I mean a set (a few dozen) of previously sent emails were sent out. It is seemingly random. We have Outlook connected to Exchange using cached mode.

Thanks, good explanation. I did see my corporate IP address when I went to that site, and that makes sense.

I like your thinking Helvick. I certainly could be, but I'm more of a Windows expert so I'm not sure where to look for that on a Mac. I'll try digging around to find out, but do you know how I could find that information?

comment Tracking down source of duplicate email messages in Outlook / Exchange environment
This occurs both internally and externally. Are there particular logs I should use? I assume you mean the diagnostics on the server within ESM, but is there anything else I should look at?

comment What VMWare software is necessary to run a clustered Exchange environment
You make a good point. We should probably run the exchange server VMs on separate VM hosts as well. But even if they are on the same box, the idea would be to a) have fail-over protection of a software crash of one server, and b) allow us to patch the individual Exchange servers without taking down Exchange entirely. We also use Mimecast, so if both servers did go down we could fail-over to the cloud to get our mail, in case that helps explain our position coming into this.

Ahh, of course. You know, I've seen that before but it's one of things I keep running into and struggling with each time. Hopefully I'll remember it this time! Thanks!

comment What is a good solution for an intranet video portal (YouTube-like) site?
upvoting because it was along the lines of what I was looking for. Techsmith's offering wasn't perfect mainly because in testing the video playback was very very slow. Most likely that is because they do not encode the video, but it made me worry that they have bandwidth issues...

comment What might cause a VMWare snapshot to timeout?
This answer led me to a solution, which was to separate the backup job for the server whose backup was failing. It has run smoothly since. The server had previously been the last one to have its snapshot taken out of the 5 VMs. The disk space taken up by those 5 VMs equaled the disk space remaining on the host, so I believe by the end of the cloning process the system was out of space. I didn't realize how snapshots worked before. Thanks for the explanation!

comment Lotus Domino Active Directory Integration - Possible and Practical?
After reviewing the IBM solution, I agree it's less than ideal. I have found no other solutions, unfortunately, other than 3rd-party SSO options like what PistolStar offers. I believe Notes 8.5 has made some steps toward better AD integration, but I've only read that in marketing materials and haven't dug deep into how it works.
