comment Rsyslog won't monitor mysql-slow.log when written to by mysql
Hmm not sure, I don't think flush-logs has anything to do with the the slow-query log. I tried both the inotify/polling methods as per rsyslog.com/doc/master/configuration/modules/… but neither made any difference. No change detected when mysql writes to it, but I can see the file getting bigger! Thanks for your response!

@Chris Interesting point. My client is selling this to quite a niche market, where he already has gained a lot of trust from his customers via the other services his company offers. I don't believe his goal is ever a mass market "cloud" offering, but I could be wrong.

Thanks for the feedback, it's appreciated. Apologies for the poor question. I hate being thought of as a "guy who can't read" I genuinely felt this was the right exchange site to ask this type of question on.

@Brent apologies, the faq doesn't mention that specifically, and although I can see how I maybe crossing the bounds I'm not entirely sure which of the stack exchange sites would be better suited to this question? Thanks Alan

Restard about 100 times :(. Cant see anything in /etc/init.d/proftpd which would overwrite those settings, and there's no /etc/sysconfig. So that ones safe. Thanks for taking time to reply :)
