comment Can developers install their own software at a company like Google?
@JohnLBevan I think that's what my 6-years-ago-me was trying to say. Isolate your development and operate using accounts with least permissions. My answer was assuming development in a VM (and I know this because at the time this was how I was developing) though I realise the question may have been about the host machine. Same rules in either case. Use a user account for most things and prompt/elevate to an administrative account for administrative tasks.

comment Disable Windows locking with a GPO?
@joeqwerty I have also tried the Power Management approach. None of the options clearly stand out to me as being connected to automatically locking the workstation. Any suggestions?

comment Disable Windows locking with a GPO?
@joeqwerty yes, a user is logged in. I am planning on running some network captures and want to keep the output on the screen as they run. The machines lock and I have to unlock again.

gpresult lists the GPO under Applied Group Policy Objects. I'll update the question with the (anonymized) dump of gpresult /v

comment How to use remote desktop to a proxy server that's using Forefront TMG?
I don't understand why the proxy server is not visible to the network... how do you plan to use it as a proxy server if you can't connect to it? (Perhaps it being invisible is not intended?)
