Network performance deteriorates when uninvolved device on switch is shut down All I can think of is a bad switch. You seem to be using an off-brand model, and they often do weird things. I would try a known good switch, or experiment with different cables in different ports. You might also do a wireshark or tcpdump on the nettop looking for anything interesting. |

iptables - Target to route packet to specific interface? To eliminate options you might try doing a packet capture on tun0, and see if packets are ending up on that interface. tcpdump -i tun0.. alternatively, do you need to base it on user ID? Could you just do it based on the destination IP address (easier)? route add <remote host> via 10.32.0.49 |

50,000 file in one directory, what is my best option? Mentioning that it was on Xen would have been helpful. You might try setting the disk elevator queue to noop. Add elevator=noop to your kernel parameters. |

50,000 file in one directory, what is my best option? I still think you have some other issue. I created 50,000 1k files in ext3 loopback filesystem and "ls >> /dev/null" takes .2seconds. |
