I'm a Germany/Munich based sysadmin.
I run a couple of high traffic websites, some smaller sites and manage a few networks.
I'm also for hire as a consultant.

comment puppet 3.7 does not install on Amazon linux after the 2015.03 release
Yeah, the workaround was to set the default ruby version back to 1.8. But they don't provide that version anymore either.

It's really hard to help you here. DNS zone files have a very specific syntax. A trailing dot can change the meaning of the line completely. With your obscurification it's pretty much impossible to tell you what is wrong.

CloudFlare can be configured to filter known threats, so it would be kind of a security measure too. But it's in no way something that I would rely on entirely.

You need to figure out if it's a DNS or Apache problem first. Does dig index.example.com return the correct IP?

comment “Unsupported osfamily: Linux” when trying to install Apache using Puppet
That is not entirely correct. The module contains support for other distributions and operating systems, such as FreeBSD, Gentoo and Amazon Linux, but is not formally tested on those and regressions can occur. (source).

comment inotifywait invalid option -d (daemon)
Your command works for me on CentOS 6.6. You neither specify the ionotifywait version nor OS version you are using. So it's not really possible to answer, could be an too old version.

What does rpm -q postfix ; echo $? print? Also which CentOS version are you using?

comment Zone delegation
Note that those warnings were caused by named-checkzone trying to lookup the out of zone records and that failed (presumably because the zone is not on the DNS server yet). Defining the records like in the question is perfectly fine, those are called glue records. (See also lists.isc.org/pipermail/bind-users/2008-January/068915.html)

When I copy and paste your zone and run named-checkzone on it, I get errors about out of zone records (AFAIK this is normal for glue records) but it loads OK.

I'm wondering how many clients support it yet. In any case your answer is more correct.
