Industrial Controls developer for a Materials Handling manufacturer and integrator. I use a little bit of all the MS technologies to develop solutions for our clients. In my spare time I work on cars.

If you downvote my questions would you mind leaving a comment to let me know what you thought was lacking from my question? I always try to provide as much issue context and source code to help others understand what i'm going through and your comments will help me get better at this.

Thanks and happy coding! Try not to be a Stack Exchange elitist. Belittlement is not considered helpful. Everyone's here to learn after all.

I appreciate your input mfinni. I've got a ways to go with learning proper troubleshooting techniques. Based on the troubleshooting I did do I found the common item to be the files that were being consumed from the network shares. I already knew that this box did dhcp, dns, wsus, iis roles in addition to fileserver and made an assumption that one nic was just being overworked. I'll research more, post more specific questions, and come back here to update with proper info.

@Roman - do you care to comment on additional troubleshooting I should have done? I don't do this sort of stuff every single day and i'm still trying to learn here.

comment server 2008 r2 - wbadmin systemstatebackup - system writer not found in the backup
No I haven't. I set up a scheduled acronis backup of the server as my safety net until I get more time to look at the issue. It's likely that we will re-purpose the server and when I rebuild it then it will get fixed. Not exactly how I wanted it to go..
