comment Allow socket connection in Solaris
For the sake of completeness, your info helped me find that a single IP address was specified inside the function that initialized the socket. I found that I could update this function to "any" IP. I restarted the app, ran the netstat command and saw that it was no longer bound to 127.0.0.1, but to *. Thanks so much! Been stuck on this all day

I see, would the application itself (how the socket reading / writing is coded) need to be updated to fix this problem? Or is it a configuration on the server?

This didn't work for me on Ubuntu EC2, not sure what the extra step that I'm missing is, port 22 is open

comment PHP DL Function
I also use the Google Analytics PHP SDK that uses the OAuth helper libraries and there is a conflict between these two libraries causing both of them to not work. I have tried renaming the OAuth helper library class-names (thinking it was a name conflict), but to no avail. I have also tried to get the Analytics code to use the extension but it simply doesn't work (fails to find the right classes). I have a question for this on stack overflow: bit.ly/kPu4Yv and have just reverted to using dl due to not finding an alternative, it works, I'm just worried that it was off by default :)

comment Permission Denied when using Sed
@embobo - When you say "some versions of sed" if I put this inside a bash script can I be fairly confident that it will run on "Most versions" of Linux? Ubuntu is probably the most important for this test case

comment Hiding Directory Browsing in Linux
Excellent, thank you! Not sure why that was set, perhaps it was due to a codeigniter installation, everything seems to be working without though
