For kerberos (basically Negotiate), there are two http headers used, WWW-Authenticate and Authorization. I have not used squid, but i assume squid should understand this header.

Just to clarify, hear permanent connection means connection required only when authentication happens but not all the time. Server needs a single initial connection means, you will extract the keytab for your service principal and keep it in your server where application is running. For protocol transision, your client and service needs to contact kerberos. I do not see a need for a protocol transition here. Its used if service1 has to access service2 on behalf of the user.

Probably I was looking for something like this tools.ietf.org/html/draft-ietf-tls-kerb-cipher-suites-00 . But I guess this did not go well beyond a draft. I will stick with existing methods. Thanks.
